Affinity had its origins when three science students – pianist Lynton Naiff (studying mathematics), drummer Grant Serpell (studying chemistry), and double bass player John Morton ‘Nick’ Nicholas (studying physics and philosophy) – formed the US Jazz Trio. One year later another science student – Mo Foster (studying Physics) who had originally played bass guitar in his school band, The Tradewinds, adapted to playing drums for the trio when Grant Serpell graduated. |
