Released in August 2008 MOTT THE HOOPLE Limited 4-CD Box Set (RAJP001BOX) MOTT THE HOOPLE were formed in June 1969 by the original line-up of VERDEN ALLEN (organ), DALE GRIFFIN (Buffin) (drums), IAN HUNTER (vocals/piano), MICK RALPHS (guitar/vocals) and OVEREND WATTS (bass) and within months they had built up a fearsome reputation live as a ranting, raucous, raving, rioting, rip roaring and above all, real, rock’n’roll band.
This 4CD Box Set lovingly
compiled by Buffin provides an important historic and compelling live
historic document of their much loved but short lived career.

CARLO LITTLE was
the sound of the 60's. Loud exciting and always in step with what was
going on. He was the drummer the ROLLING STONES wanted but
couldn't afford! He provided the beat behind CYRIL DAVIES ALL STARS
and was the driving force in SCREAMING LORD SUTCH'S SAVAGES and
he taught the young KEITH MOON how to play! http://www.angelair.co.uk/sjpcd283.htm [Release date 12.01.09] HIGH SOCIETY I Never Go Out In The Rain (SJPCD290)
Inspired by the music of
the 1930's HIGH SOCIETY were a refreshing change from the typical
pop/rock idiom when they released their debut album in 1980 which
featured their UK HIT single 'I Never Go Out In The Rain' The group was
formed around the nucleus of three talented individuals TERRY CASSIDY
(GIN HOUSE & The MONKS) and RICHARD HUDSON and JOHN FORD
(The STRAWBS, ELMER GANTRY'S VELVET OPERA, HUDSON FORD and The MONKS). http://www.angelair.co.uk/sjpcd290.htm More information: www.myspace.com/highsocietyukband Released in February 2009 [Release date 09.02.09] KING EARL BOOGIE BAND Loaded & Live (SJPCD209) The original King Earl Band was created by Paul King and Colin Earl, both founder members of MUNGO JERRY. In 1996 Paul retired from the band and Dave Peabody joined to replace Paul.
Les Calvert also joined
(ALEXIS KORNER, MIKE KOOPER) around the same time. In late 2005 John
Coghlan (STATUS QUO, DIESEL) joined and added a driving beat which has
transformed the band into its current shape. http://www.angelair.co.uk/sjpcd209.htm MOTT - By Tonight - Live 1975/1976 (SJPCD289) MOTT was formed in 1974 from the ashes of MOTT THE HOOPLE - OVEREND WATTS, DALE GRIFFIN and MORGAN FISHER decided to soldier on as simply called MOTT and recruited RAY MAJOR and NIGEL BENJAMIN. The two new recruits made their presence felt very quickly and powerfully.
This album
brings together tracks from both UK (Friars Club, Aylesbury and Leeds
Polytechnic) and USA gigs (The Forum, Los Angeles, Agora Ballroom,
Cleveland) and shows what a powerhouse the band had become on the live
circuit. RICK DERRINGER'S ROCK SPECTACULAR - Live At the Ritz, New York - 1982 (SJPCD292)
RICK DERRINGER was
just 17 when his band The McCOYS hit Number 1 with 'Hang On Sloopy' in

ROCK SPECTACULAR band featured on this release. http://www.angelair.co.uk/sjpcd292.htm
2008/9 CATALOGUE!!
Download the catalogue and 2009 update: http://www.angelair.co.uk/page1.htm BOOK CHARTS RISE AND RISE OF ANGEL AIR To celebrate Angel Air's 10th Anniversary a new book by James McCarraher was published in 2007.
Further information: www.angelair.co.uk/book_catalogue.htm 'Angel Air is 10' is a welcome celebration of the label's first ten years and for any rocker of a certain age, and with an eye for trivia, makes essential reading. Where else could we read about Affinity, an early jazz rock stomping ground for the great Mo Foster, Warhorse (debut album on the Vertigo 'swirl' label) and what happened to Bobby Harrison of seventies funk rockers Snafu? Author James McCarraher has brought together the 200-plus label catalogue, prefacing each release with an essay culled mainly from the original liner notes. David Randall, www.getreadytorock.com ...a celebration of the label rather than a detailed account of the every day ins and outs of a small independent record company...'Angel Air is 10' is as much a reference book as anything else. REVIEWS...
http://www.angelair.co.uk/dvd_reviews.htm CD Reviews MOTT THE HOOPLE In Performance 1970-1974 (RAJPBOX001) ...a fine document of a band at the height of their popularity... Classic Rock Society (October/November 2008) ...thanks to Stowmarket's label, The Hoople's concert life has well-documented in the last years, and now four of the discs are re-packaged in a hard back box set with a 48-page book written by Keith Smith, editor of Mott fanzine 'Two Miles From Heaven', featuring rare photos from the personal archives of the former band members, which puts it all in context...it serves as a vivid, indeed live, history of Mott The Hoople, the ensemble perfectly tuned into their times...this box is as great an eye-opener as it is ear-splitter. Play it loud and get transported right back onto the stage and into the action. www.dmme.net (November 2008) MO FOSTER Time To Think (SJPCD261) ...the album has certainly stood the test of time...superb instrumental music, jazz influenced for sure but without ostentatious soloing or lengthy jamming. Mood music in the best sense of the expression, evocative and atmospheric... Pipeline (November 2008) ROBERT JOHNSON Close Personal Friend (SJPCD285) Memphis music history is littered with curious, compelling stories, among them that of Robert Johnson. No, not that Robert Johnson. A white guitar hotshot who cut his teeth in local bands and recording sessions in the early ’70s, the other Robert Johnson ended up playing for Isaac Hayes and the Who’s John Entwistle and auditioning for the Rolling Stones in 1975 (a guitarist spot vacated by Mick Taylor that ultimately went to Ron Wood) before making his own mark as a solo artist... Close Personal Friend put Johnson on the road with fellow new-wave/poprock acts like the Police and the Knack in the late ’70s, but label and management issues shortened the album’s initial shelf life despite good press. Memphis Flyer (December 2008) It's cheerily intense...For the most part highly enjoyable... www.dmme.net (November 2008) FAMILY Best of Family and Friends (SJPCD264) ...the enduring appeal of the quirkily memorable material that Family created during their heyday in the early seventies... Kevin Bryan, Stirling Advertiser COLOSSEUM Reunion Concert 1994 (SJPCD275) Vocalist Chris Farlowe, saxist Dick Heckstall-Smith and drummer Hiseman are in particularly fine fettle throughout a highly musicianly set... Kevin Bryan, Stirling Advertiser (and various regionals) ...seamless blend of blues, jazz and expansive prog-flavoured rock Steve Caseman, RocknReel (October 2008) SAILOR Traffic Jam Sound And Vision (SJPCD267) The collection of 1973 demos is particularly interesting, serving up embryonic versions of future singles... Kevin Bryan, Stirling Advertiser The English band still ride the waves...so it's never too late to seize the opportunity, and this compilation offers the map to the ensemble's journey... www.dmme.net (November 2008) STACKRIDGE Anyone For Tennis? - Sound & Vision (SJPCD271) An audio CD featuring many of the band's finest musical moments is coupled with a DVD recorded at their concert in Bath last year... Kevin Bryan, Stirling Advertiser ...combination of quirky pop, understated classical elements and a pastorally English songwriting maturity retains its charm down the years... Steve Caseman, RocknReel (October 2008) ...the irresistibly melodic Squeeze-style Last Plimsoll, the gorgeous pop harmonies of Friendliness and the proggy instrumental Purple Spaceships Over Yatton indicate that Stackridge were more than funsters...a fine collection... Classic Rock Society (October/November 2008) A perfect melange to lose the game - and be revered now...And then go back to investigate the albums' context. www.dmme.net (November 2008) STONE THE CROWS Live Crows 1972/73 (SJPCD272) ...a taste of the clatter and intensity of the Glaswegian combo in full flight...a characteristically smouldering blend of blues-fuelled rocking... Steve Caseman, RocknReel (October 2008) DOC THOMAS GROUP The Italian Job (SJPCD) The Italian Job is a pleasant if unremarkable period piece...the bonus inclusion of Shotgun Eyes, an album recorded in 1990 by The Silence...is something else. Fifteen sizzling tracks of heart-racing proto-punk, machine-gun riffing and primal rock 'n' roll...may yet encourage a new generation to seek out and discover the whole story. Steve Caseman, RocknReel (October 2008) A genuine rarity on vinyl...12 chugging sub-Small Faces, way-sub-Action soul covers was recorded in a day... Record Collector (December 2008) If you feel like cutting the rug, this collection will do nicely; if you're up for expanding The Hoople horizons, this is essential. www.dmme.net (November 2008) MIKE READ & SIR JOHN BETJEMAN Sound Of Poetry (SJPCD288) The whole project has a certain charm to it and Read acquits himself well as a composer, complementing the Englishness of Betjeman's words. It's worth a try. Nigel Filby, Diss Express (October 2008) Easy on the ear, but with less stress on the text than it could have been...it's most alluring for the fans of the artists involved...Often generic, if very pleasant...A good gift for your loving one. www.dmme.net (November 2008) MIKE READ Singles (SJPCD287) ...the DJ's dalliance with rock 'n' roll stretches back to the '60s...one can attribute any of the songs to some other artist... www.dmme.net (November 2008) NINE BELOW ZERO Both Sides Of (SJPCD242) Alkl in all, riveting performances, even the soundcheck...a great testament to their talent and abandon... www.dmme.net (November 2008) THE KORGIS Something About the Korgis - Sound & Vision (SJPCD269) ...filing under 'relevant' is an option Mojo, November 2008 ...raging emotions put into simple delivery, heartfelt words...A gem among gems.
