DANNY PEYRONEL Make The Monkey Dance
… an album of mainly new songs plus a few choice older cuts reworked very nicely indeed.
Of the newer songs ‘Never Been Cool’ and ‘Makin’ Room For Noah’ are up tempo pop rockers, both of which could have easily made the Heavy Metal Kids 2005 comeback album ‘Hit The Right Button’.
‘Lie For A Lie’ was used by Profiles, a band that featured 10CC’s Rick Fenn and Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason. Then there is Meat Loaf’s ‘Midnight At The Lost And Found’, which he was a co-writer on and his version is as good as, if not better than the original. UFO’s ‘Highway Lady’ gets a run through as well although you’ll never beat Phil Mogg singing this one!
Another ‘lost gem’ rescued and given its deserved time in the limelight by Angel Air. If you enjoyed the HMK ‘Hit The Right Button’ album and like pop/hard rock then this album is one for you.

The music for the most part sounds firmly planted in the softer side of 80′s power pop, case in point a couple of radio friendly power ballads “Affection”, penned with Starz guitarist Richie Ranno and “Ships In The Night”. Ah… but don’t despair, it’s not really as tepid as it seems on the surface, because it’s Danny’s impressive set of pipes, along with his deft keyboard playing of course, that really saves some of the lighter sounding tracks from getting dangerously close to that dreaded melodic, AOR slop.
…a decent sounding collection of songs worthy of the second chance it’s been given here.

The album is chock full of commercial pop/rock tunes that all sound remarkably familiar. The disc spins like a non-stop string of hits you’ve never heard before…
